Developmental Assessment for Speech & Language Impairments | Cadabams CDC
Watching your child grow is filled with joy—and questions. If you’ve noticed your little one isn’t talking as expected or struggles to follow simple instructions, you’re not alone. One in ten children experiences a speech or language delay, but early support can change their trajectory. At Cadabams CDC, our developmental assessment for speech and language impairments is designed to give you clear answers and an actionable roadmap—often within a single day.
Why Choose Our Speech & Language Developmental Assessment
Multidisciplinary Team Focused on Your Child
We bring together speech-language pathologists and developmental pediatricians under one roof. This collaboration ensures that every angle—speech clarity, language comprehension, even subtle social cues—is thoroughly examined.
Evidence-Based, Standardized Tools
Our toolkit includes globally trusted measures such as:
- CELF-P2 (Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals—Preschool 2)
- PLS-5 (Preschool Language Scales, Fifth Edition)
- REELS (Receptive-Expressive Emergent Language Scale)
These tools convert your child’s everyday words, gestures, and play into measurable data so we can pinpoint exactly where support is needed.
Who Should Book This Assessment
Early Warning Signs (0–5 Years)
- 12 months: No babbling (“ba-ba,” “da-da”)
- 18 months: Fewer than 10 meaningful words
- 24 months: Not yet combining two words (“more milk”)
- 36 months: Speech understood by family less than 50% of the time
Red Flags for School-Age Children (4+ Years)
- Unclear speech to strangers
- Trouble following multi-step directions
- Difficulty rhyming or learning letter sounds
- Avoiding playground conversations or storytelling
If any of these signs are familiar, early assessment can prevent frustration at school and home.
Our Assessment Process – Step by Step
Step 1: Intake & Parent Questionnaire (15-Minute Call)
A quick phone chat helps us understand your concerns and choose the right tools before you arrive.
Step 2: In-Clinic Evaluation (60–90 Minutes)
Your child will:
- Play and talk while we record speech samples
- Complete short language games (naming pictures, following commands)
- Receive a hearing screening to rule out hearing loss as a cause
We make sure it stays fun—kids often think they’re just playing!
Step 3: Feedback Session & Tailored Plan (Same Day)
Leave with:
- A plain-English report of strengths and needs
- Therapy goals (if needed)
- A list of home activities you can start tonight
